Ocean View Wedding – Virginia Wedding Photography – Sasha & James

We had so much rain for weeks and weeks and weeks leading up to this Ocean View Wedding in Norfolk, Virginia. What Sasha & James were handed was perfect. Sunshine for days. Was it hot? Sweltering. But that didn’t matter. We got some great beach portraits and hurried back into the AC. All was well.

I’ve known Sasha since about 7th grade. We played softball for years together (Go Falcons!) and her dad Benny was one of our coaches. That seems like a million years ago! I was thrilled when she contacted me about shooting her intimate beach wedding. I met James on the day of the wedding. I could instantly tell that he was the perfect fit for Sasha. They have the same silly, friendly, quick wit sort of humor. The day began with a short and sweet ceremony at the Knights of Columbus. With handwritten vows that brought tears to a few (ok a lot of) eyes. Then we ventured down to the beach where I saw the infamous flamingo wall. Little did I know, Sasha’s grandparents actually own that building! I literally couldn’t get across the street fast enough.

After several honks and waives to congratulate the newlyweds, we made it across the street. Cuddles and kisses were exchanged, and the two even appeased me and my want for a hipster flamingo wall shot. Which, coincidentally, became a favorite of mine! The reception had some of my favorite things. Glowy lights and the best cupcakes on Earth. I’m not kidding. If you haven’t stopped by Noble Roman’s inside of Depaul Hospital, you aren’t really living. James’ dance with his daughter couldn’t have been sweeter. Oh and that dance with Sasha and her grandfather? Yeaaaaa cue the tears!

What could be more perfect than using the flamingo wall for an Ocean View wedding!?!?!
