The Water Table Wedding – Virginia Beach – Melissa & Jonathan

This navy and lavender wedding came together perfectly at The Water Table in Virginia Beach last summer. Melissa & Jonathan are absolutely head over heels for each other, and two of the happiest souls I have had the pleasure of meeting. There were ear to ear grins ALL day y’all! From dabbing to Bridesmaids movie posters…their bridal party was just as carefree as they were.

We were secretly hoping for surprise fireworks for this 4th of July weekend wedding. While we didn’t get fireworks, we DID get a perfect mild day, with minimal sweating. That is a WIN y’all! We were able to do tons and tons of portraits outside on the docks, and only got rained on for a few minutes. The rain ended up holding off and we went back out! By allowing me to customize their timeline, we ended up with a TON of portrait time. It was relaxed, no rushing, letting them really get into the moment….just perfect.

Getting to know Melissa & Jonathan prior to this Water Table wedding made me realize how alike we are. These two are very involved in the exercise/therapy industry, they love hanging out outdoors, and their dating anniversary is our wedding anniversary! Vernon was my second shooter for this wedding! The four of us really had a lot of fun out there on that dock! That’s one part of photographing weddings that I just love. I love getting to know my couples and their families.

Not only are these florals absolutely GORGEOUS (thanks Petal&Vine!) But that large purple flower? It’s made out coffee filters! Jonathan made them for Melissa on their first Valentines Day together 4 years ago!

Melissa & Jonathan allowed me to work in SO much portrait time into their timeline! We definitely made great use of The Water Table!

I truly have the best couples who put SO much thought into their weddings! They had their childhood ice cream truck come to their wedding! Handmade “free ice cream” tickets were made, and the same driver from when they were kids got to be a part of their day!
