This wedding was the first one that I second shot for Stephanie Michelle. It was such a relaxed wedding to be a part of, and I’ll forever be grateful for that. We had an overcast day to work with (thanks nature for the giant diffuser!), and the rain held off for just enough time to get in a first look. 😀 This was also my first visit to the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth. What a beautiful venue! Allie & David had it decorated perfectly too. From perfect ribbon wands to pashmina’s for the guests on this chilly day….matching the wedding colors of course. Don’t even get me started on the flowers. The bouquets were lush, and the boutineers were perfect. So much greenery used throughout and blended perfectly with Allie & David’s day.
I am still sorta in shock that I was able to second shoot with Stephanie. She posted in a Facebook group that she was looking for a second shooter for this year. I applied on a whim, thinking I had zero shot at all. Man am I glad that I did. This was our first wedding together, and at this point I have shot 5 weddings with her. The amount of nerves that I had going into this day was unreal. Stephanie is amazing, and walked me through the day, answering any questions I had…..there were a lot. We’ve also turned into better friends with our hour long (ok sometimes longer) chats after weddings. Right now we don’t have another wedding together until the end of July, and I am incredibly sad about that! 🙁 For now, enjoy Allie & David’s wedding!
As a second shooter, one of my jobs is to lead the groom to spot where the first look will happen. The place where he knows he is about to see his bride for the first time. I would imagine those 5 minutes that we wait are pretty nerve wracking for the guys. David’s deep breath that he took here illustrates that perfectly!
The happiest little sign a photographer ever did see.
be silly. be honest. be kind.
